Wi-Fi Adapter W-E1 is an accessory that enables Wi-Fi (wireless
communication) functions when installed in the SD card slot of the
EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS, or EOS 5DS R.
The wireless communication functions available with the W-E1 are as
follows.
(1)q Communicate with a smartphone (p.21, 53)
Connect the camera to a smartphone or tablet wirelessly and use
the dedicated application “Camera Connect” to do the following.
• View images stored in the camera on a smartphone or save
viewed images to a smartphone.
• Operate the camera to shoot still photos or change camera
settings using a smartphone.
In this manual and on the camera’s LCD monitor, “smartphone”
refers to smartphones and tablets.
(2)D Operate remotely using EOS Utility (p.27, 59)
Connect the camera to a computer wirelessly and operate the
camera remotely using EOS Utility (EOS software).
Introduction
What You Can Do Using the W-E1
Images cannot be recorded on the W-E1. Be sure to prepare a CF card
for recording images.
Depending on the transmission range and connection status, image display
may be delayed, images may not be displayed smoothly, or shutter release
timing may be delayed.
Note that Canon cannot be held liable for any loss or damage from
erroneous wireless communication settings for using the W-E1. In addition,
Canon cannot be held liable for any other loss or damage caused by use of
the W-E1.
When using wireless functions, establish appropriate security at your own
risk and discretion. Canon cannot be held liable for any loss or damage
caused by unauthorized access or other security breaches.

In this manual, the terms “wireless” and “wireless LAN” are used as
general terms for Wi-Fi and Canon’s original wireless functions.
The term “access point” indicates wireless LAN terminals (wireless
LAN access points, wireless LAN routers, etc.) that relay wireless
LAN connection.
Read the Camera Instruction Manual and familiarize yourself with
operating the camera. Explanations in this instruction manual
assume that you are accustomed to the camera operations.
Screens in this manual are of the EOS 7D Mark II.

<6> : Indicates the Main Dial.
<5> : Indicates the Quick Control Dial.
<9> : Indicates the Multi-controller.
<0> : Indicates the Setting button.
