Safety
Log Splitter Warning Symbols
Make sure that you have read and understood theentire instruction manual and that
you have read and understood all thesafety instructions and warnings.
Place thelog splitter on dry, level and firm ground. Makesure that there is enough
space to work safely. Keepthework area clean and tidy. Donot leave tools, logs or
other items where they could become atripping hazard.
Make sure that thelog splitter is undamaged, that none of thesafety features are
missing and that they fitted and working properly. Neveroperate thelog splitter if it is
damaged or if any of thesafety features is damaged or missing. Checktheoil level
before starting thelog splitter.
Wear non-slip footwear and protective gloves. Removeloose-fitting clothing and
jewellery and contain longhair.
Wear safety glasses.
Do not smoke whilst operating thelog splitter or when topping up theoil. Donot use
thelog splitter in thevicinity of naked flames or where sparks might be produced.
Thelog splitter must always be operated . Keepchildren and by one person only
bystanders at asafe distance from thework area. Neverallow another person to
help you free ajammed log. Persons under 16 years of age must not operate thelog
splitter unsupervised. Ifpersons under 18 years of age are to operate thelog splitter,
they must be instructed in thesafe use of theproduct and understand thehazards
involved. Persons under 18 years of age must be supervised by anadult whilst
operating thelog splitter.
Do not overreach. Maintain correct balance and footing at all times. Neverstack your
logs in such away that you need to stretch to reach them. Onlyuse your hands to
operate thelog splitter. Neveruse other parts of thebody or devices which could
enable your hands to become crushed between thewedge and thelog. Payattention
to themovement of thesplitting wedge at all times. Neverattempt to split two logs at
once; one may be ejected with serious consequences. Neverattempt to load alog
into thelog splitter whilst it is motion. Keephands away from moving parts.
Keep hands away when thesplitting wedge is returning after it has split thelog.
Thelog splitter is designed to stop only when thesplitting wedge has returned
to its original position. Keepyour hands away from any splits and cracks which
open in logs. Theymay close suddenly which could cause serious personal injury.
Neverattempt to remove jammed logs by hand. Useanappropriate tool for thejob.

General safety instructions
1. Keeptheworking area tidy. Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.
2. Donot use themachine in dangerous environments. Themachine should not be used on moist or wet
surfaces or in rain. Makesure that thework area is well lit. Whenworking in dusty atmospheres, make
sure that theair is adequately circulated. Donot operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in
thepresence of flammable liquids, gases ordust.
3. Avoidbody contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, Avoidelectric shocks.

4. Keepchildren and bystanders away. Keepchildren and visitors at asafe distance from electrical
machinery/tools and electric cables in theworkplace.
5. Storepower tools out of thereach of children. Whennot in use, power tools should be stored locked
away in asafe place, away from children.
6. Thecorrect feed rate makes thework better andsafer.Donot force themachine.
7. Donot force atool to perform atask that it was not designed for.Usethecorrect tool for thejob.
8. Wearsuitable attire. Donot wear any loose-fitting clothing, gloves, necklaces, bracelets or other jewellery
that can get caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wearahairnet or similar if you have
longhair.
9. Normalglasses are not tough enough to withstand impacts. Useadust mask Alwayswear safety glasses.
or dust filter when working in dusty environments.
10. Connect dust extraction equipment. Ifthemachine is equipped with dust extraction equipment, ensure
that it is connected and used properly. Makesure to empty thedust bag regularly.
11. Donot abuse themains lead. Donot carry themachine by its mains lead. Donot yank themains lead to
turn thepower off, pull theplug out instead. Makesure that themains lead does not come into contact with
heat, oil, or sharpedges.
12. Securetheworkpiece firmly. Wherepossible, use clamps or avice. Youcan then operate thetool using
two hands. Thisis much safer than holding theworkpiece in onehand.
13. Donot overreach. Makesure that you stand steady and balanced alltimes.
14. Lookafter your tools. Keepblades sharp and clean for thebest and safest performance. Followtheinstruction
manual’s recommendations regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories. Inspect themains lead regularly.
Ifit is damaged it should be replaced by aqualified service technician. Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check
for any damage. Makesure that themachines handles and controls are clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
15. Turnthepower off. Pullout theplug and push in theemergency stop button before servicing or changing
any blades, drill bits, cutters or sanding discs.
16. Removeall spanners and repair tools. Makeahabit of checking to make sure that themachine is free of
all spanners and tools before turning thepoweron.
17. Avoidaccidental starts. Donot walk around with your finger on thetrigger of apower tool if it is plugged in.
Makesure that theon/off switch is set to OFF before plugging in any powertool.
18. Usethecorrect extension leads. Ifyou use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor
use. Onlyuse extension leads with thick enough diameter core wires and roll out thewholelead.
19. Usecommon sense and be careful. Thinkcarefully before carrying out every action, so that it is carried out
safely. Neveroperate machines/power tools when you are tired or under theinfluence of medicine.
20. Inspect thetool for damage. Beforestarting thetool, make sure that theguards and other parts are
undamaged and working properly, that moving parts can rotate freely and are correctly aligned, that no
moving parts can get caught and that there is no fault or defect that could affect theperformance of
themachine. Asafety guard or any other part that is damaged should be repaired by atradesman or
replaced. Damaged power leads and switches must always be replaced by atradesman. Neveroperate
atool if you cannot stop or start thetool comfortably.
21. Useonly recommended accessories. Theuse of non-recommended accessories can cause accidents
and personal injury.
22. Repairs should only be carried out by aqualified repair person using genuine identical replacement parts.
23. Allpower tools should be connected to themains via aportable residual current device (PRCD).
Theproduct must not be modified or used for any other purpose than that for which it has been designed.
Regularly check that all screws and nuts are securely tightened.
Disconnect theplug from thepower supply before making any adjustments, servicing or
repairing thelog splitter.

Specic safety instructions for log splitters
Thelog splitter is only intended to be used by one operator at atime. Thelog splitter must not be operated
by more than one person at atime.
Locate thelog splitter on dry, level ground which is not slippery.
Make sure that branches are cut off flush with thelog before splitting.
Save theinstruction manual, make sure that it accompanies thelog splitter if it is borrowed.
Split wood in thedirection of thegrain. Donot attempt to split wood across thegrain.
Read thewarning labels on thelog splitter and make sure that they are legible.
Make sure that theelectrical socket you intend to use has thecorrect voltage (230 V) before connecting
thelog splitter.
Never attempt to adjust theforce setting yourself. Thelog splitter is pre-set at thefactory for amaximum
splitting force of 6 tonnes.
Tampering with thepressure settings can lead to diminished performance and damage to themachine and
result in serious person injury.
Do not attempt to split two logs at thesametime.
Never attempt to right aleaning log with your hand whilst theram is in motion. Stopthemachine and move
thelog so that it is standing vertically.
Never attempt to hold alog with your hand whilst theram is in motion.
If alog jams or fails to be split because it exceeds thecapacity of theram, release both control levers and let
theram return to its original position, otherwise there is arisk that themotor will become damaged by overheating.
Switch off thelog splitter and disconnect it from themains supply whenever you take abreak and before
starting any maintenance procedures. Makesure that log splitter cannot be started by any children or
unauthorised person.
Make sure that all thesafety features on thelog splitter are correctly fitted and functioning properly.
Wear safety glasses, ear defenders and safety shoes if necessary.
Always stand in such away that you can perform all work tasks whilst maintaining good balance and grip
thecontrol levers in bothhands.
Keep your hands and fingers well away from theand splitting wedge. Whenoperating machines, always use
your common sense and be careful.
Make sure that there are no bystanders or pets close to themachine, sharp splinters can be ejected by
theblade with greatforce.
Connect thelog splitter to awall socket via anRCD.
Never use thelog splitter in therain or wet conditions.
Never use thelog splitter if thepower switch, plug, mains lead or any other part is damaged.
Thedefective part must be replaced by aqualified repair person.
Safety equipment
Risk of flying wood chips! Wear safety glasses.
Risk of falling pieces of wood. Wear safety shoes.
Risk of flying wood chips! Wear protective gloves.
Do not wear loosely-fitting clothes that may get trapped in moving parts.
If your hair is long, wear ahair net.
Use ear protectors when working with themachine.
Never remove wood chips, dust, etc. with your hands. Turn off themachine and use abrush to
remove accumulated material.
Avoid cleaning theproduct with solvents or other substances that are harmful to health, flammable or explosive.

Wheels
1. Screw thewheel brackets onto thelog splitter using
M6×8 screws.
2. Slide thewheels onto theaxles.
3. Secure thewheels using thelocking washers.
4. Fit thehub caps onto thewheels.

Attach thecontrol levers using M10×30 bolts, washers
and nuts. Makesure that thelink to thepush rod slots into
thecontrollevers.
Support table
Thesupport table can be fixed in 3 positions.
Danger! This is dangerous and might result in
personal injury.
Insert thearms of thesupport table as far as possible into
both side brackets. Make sure that thelugs on theends
of thearms hook onto theback of thebrackets.

Operating instructions
Familiarise yourself with thecontrols and make sure that you
understand how thelog splitter works before beginning work.
Note: Thelog splitter is sold fitted with atransport cap on theoiltank.
Thetransport cap must be changed for theoil filler cap/dipstick
before thelog splitter is used. Thelog splitter must be used with not
thetransport cap fitted.
Moving and positioning the log splitter
Note: Bearin mind that thelog splitter is very heavy, get
someone to help you if you are unsure whether or not you can
move italone.
1. Grasp thetransportation handles, tilt thelog splitter towards
you slightly and roll it to thenew location.
2. Stand thelog splitter on afirm, level surface where there is
no risk of it tipping over.
Note: Ifthelog splitter is hoisted using acrane,
attach thelifting slings to suitably secure lifting
points. Do fasten lifting slings around NOT
thetransportation handles.
Things to consider before beginning work
Preparing the work area
Thelog splitter is sold with hydraulic oil in it, always check thelevel of theoil before starting work.
Removetheoil filler cap. Thecap has adipstick attached. Thelevel should be 1–2 cm below thelip of theoil
tank, on thebevelled part of thedipstick.
Position thelog splitter in such away that you can safely reach thelogs to besplit.
Prepare aplace for stacking thesplit logs away from thelog splitter.
Keep thework area uncluttered and free of split logs to reduce therisk of tripping and personal injury.
Position themains lead in such away that it will not be damaged during operation of thelog splitter.
Ensurealso that themains lead does not constitute atripping hazard.
Danger: Risk of personal injury!
Thelog splitter must only be operated if it is correctly assembled and undamaged.
Any damaged or missing parts must be replaced before thelog splitter isused.
Warning: Risk of damage to thelog splitter!
Check thelevel of thehydraulic oil before use.
Using thelog splitter with too little oil will damage it.
Warning: Risk of damage to thelog splitter!
When thelog splitter is switched on, thewedge will travel up to its maximum height.
Check that there is at least 1 m of free space above thelog splitter.
