Safety
Log Splitter Warning Symbols
Make sure that you have read and understood theentire instruction manual and that
you have read and understood all thesafety instructions and warnings.
Place thelog splitter on dry, level and firm ground. Makesure that there is enough
space to work safely. Keepthework area clean and tidy. Donot leave tools, logs or
other items where they could become atripping hazard.
Make sure that thelog splitter is undamaged, that none of thesafety features are
missing and that they fitted and working properly. Neveroperate thelog splitter if it is
damaged or if any of thesafety features is damaged or missing. Checktheoil level
before starting thelog splitter.
Wear non-slip footwear and protective gloves. Removeloose-fitting clothing and
jewellery and contain longhair.
Wear safety glasses.
Do not smoke whilst operating thelog splitter or when topping up theoil. Donot use
thelog splitter in thevicinity of naked flames or where sparks might be produced.
Thelog splitter must always be operated . Keepchildren and by one person only
bystanders at asafe distance from thework area. Neverallow another person to
help you free ajammed log. Persons under 16 years of age must not operate thelog
splitter unsupervised. Ifpersons under 18 years of age are to operate thelog splitter,
they must be instructed in thesafe use of theproduct and understand thehazards
involved. Persons under 18 years of age must be supervised by anadult whilst
operating thelog splitter.
Do not overreach. Maintain correct balance and footing at all times. Neverstack your
logs in such away that you need to stretch to reach them. Onlyuse your hands to
operate thelog splitter. Neveruse other parts of thebody or devices which could
enable your hands to become crushed between thewedge and thelog. Payattention
to themovement of thesplitting wedge at all times. Neverattempt to split two logs at
once; one may be ejected with serious consequences. Neverattempt to load alog
into thelog splitter whilst it is motion. Keephands away from moving parts.
Keep hands away when thesplitting wedge is returning after it has split thelog.
Thelog splitter is designed to stop only when thesplitting wedge has returned
to its original position. Keepyour hands away from any splits and cracks which
open in logs. Theymay close suddenly which could cause serious personal injury.
Neverattempt to remove jammed logs by hand. Useanappropriate tool for thejob.

General safety instructions
1. Keeptheworking area tidy. Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.
2. Donot use themachine in dangerous environments. Themachine should not be used on moist or wet
surfaces or in rain. Makesure that thework area is well lit. Whenworking in dusty atmospheres, make
sure that theair is adequately circulated. Donot operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in
thepresence of flammable liquids, gases ordust.
3. Avoidbody contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, Avoidelectric shocks.
ranges and refrigerators when using powertools.
4. Keepchildren and bystanders away. Keepchildren and visitors at asafe distance from electrical
machinery/tools and electric cables in theworkplace.
5. Storepower tools out of thereach of children. Whennot in use, power tools should be stored locked
away in asafe place, away from children.
6. Thecorrect feed rate makes thework better andsafer.Donot force themachine.
7. Donot force atool to perform atask that it was not designed for.Usethecorrect tool for thejob.
8. Wearsuitable attire. Donot wear any loose-fitting clothing, gloves, necklaces, bracelets or other jewellery
that can get caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wearahairnet or similar if you have
longhair.
9. Normalglasses are not tough enough to withstand impacts. Useadust mask Alwayswear safety glasses.
or dust filter when working in dusty environments.
10. Connect dust extraction equipment. Ifthemachine is equipped with dust extraction equipment, ensure
that it is connected and used properly. Makesure to empty thedust bag regularly.
11. Donot abuse themains lead. Donot carry themachine by its mains lead. Donot yank themains lead to
turn thepower off, pull theplug out instead. Makesure that themains lead does not come into contact with
heat, oil, or sharpedges.
12. Securetheworkpiece firmly. Wherepossible, use clamps or avice. Youcan then operate thetool using
two hands. Thisis much safer than holding theworkpiece in onehand.
13. Donot overreach. Makesure that you stand steady and balanced alltimes.
14. Lookafter your tools. Keepblades sharp and clean for thebest and safest performance. Followtheinstruction
manual’s recommendations regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories. Inspect themains lead regularly.
Ifit is damaged it should be replaced by aqualified service technician. Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check
for any damage. Makesure that themachine’s handles and controls are clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
15. Turnthepower off. Pullout theplug and push in theemergency stop button before servicing or changing
any blades, drill bits, cutters or sanding discs.
16. Removeall spanners and repair tools. Makeahabit of checking to make sure that themachine is free of
all spanners and tools before turning thepoweron.
17. Avoidaccidental starts. Donot walk around with your finger on thetrigger of apower tool if it is plugged in.
Makesure that theon/off switch is set to OFF before plugging in any powertool.
18. Usethecorrect extension leads. Ifyou use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor
use. Onlyuse extension leads with thick enough diameter core wires and roll out thewholelead.
19. Usecommon sense and be careful. Thinkcarefully before carrying out every action, so that it is carried out
safely. Neveroperate machines/power tools when you are tired or under theinfluence of medicine.
20. Inspect thetool for damage. Beforestarting thetool, make sure that theguards and other parts are
undamaged and working properly, that moving parts can rotate freely and are correctly aligned, that no
moving parts can get caught and that there is no fault or defect that could affect theperformance of
themachine. Asafety guard or any other part that is damaged should be repaired by atradesman or
replaced. Damaged power leads and switches must always be replaced by atradesman. Neveroperate
atool if you cannot stop or start thetool comfortably.
21. Useonly recommended accessories. Theuse of non-recommended accessories can cause accidents
and personal injury.
22. Repairs should only be carried out by aqualified repair person using genuine identical replacement parts.
23. Allpower tools should be connected to themains via aportable residual current device (PRCD).
Theproduct must not be modified or used for any other purpose than that for which it has been designed.
Regularly check that all screws and nuts are securely tightened.
Disconnect theplug from thepower supply before making any adjustments, servicing or
repairing thelog splitter.

Specic safety instructions for log splitters
• Thelog splitter is only intended to be used by one operator at atime. Thelog splitter must not be operated
by more than one person at atime.
• Locate thelog splitter on dry, level ground which is not slippery.
• Make sure that branches are cut off flush with thelog before splitting.
• Save theinstruction manual, make sure that it accompanies thelog splitter if it is borrowed.
• Split wood in thedirection of thegrain. Donot attempt to split wood across thegrain.
• Read thewarning labels on thelog splitter and make sure that they are legible.
• Make sure that theelectrical socket you intend to use has thecorrect voltage (230 V) before connecting
thelog splitter.
• Never attempt to adjust theforce setting yourself. Thelog splitter is pre-set at thefactory for amaximum
splitting force of 6 tonnes.
• Tampering with thepressure settings can lead to diminished performance and damage to themachine and
result in serious person injury.
• Do not attempt to split two logs at thesametime.
• Never attempt to right aleaning log with your hand whilst theram is in motion. Stopthemachine and move
thelog so that it is standing vertically.
• Never attempt to hold alog with your hand whilst theram is in motion.
• If alog jams or fails to be split because it exceeds thecapacity of theram, release both control levers and let
theram return to its original position, otherwise there is arisk that themotor will become damaged by overheating.
• Switch off thelog splitter and disconnect it from themains supply whenever you take abreak and before
starting any maintenance procedures. Makesure that log splitter cannot be started by any children or
unauthorised person.
• Make sure that all thesafety features on thelog splitter are correctly fitted and functioning properly.
• Wear safety glasses, ear defenders and safety shoes if necessary.
• Always stand in such away that you can perform all work tasks whilst maintaining good balance and grip
thecontrol levers in bothhands.
• Keep your hands and fingers well away from theand splitting wedge. Whenoperating machines, always use
your common sense and be careful.
• Make sure that there are no bystanders or pets close to themachine, sharp splinters can be ejected by
theblade with greatforce.
• Connect thelog splitter to awall socket via anRCD.
• Never use thelog splitter in therain or wet conditions.
• Never use thelog splitter if thepower switch, plug, mains lead or any other part is damaged.
Thedefective part must be replaced by aqualified repair person.
Safety equipment
Risk of flying wood chips! Wear safety glasses.
Risk of falling pieces of wood. Wear safety shoes.
Risk of flying wood chips! Wear protective gloves.
Do not wear loosely-fitting clothes that may get trapped in moving parts.
If your hair is long, wear ahair net.
Use ear protectors when working with themachine.
Never remove wood chips, dust, etc. with your hands. Turn off themachine and use abrush to
remove accumulated material.
Avoid cleaning theproduct with solvents or other substances that are harmful to health, flammable or explosive.

Assembly
Wheels
1. Screw thewheel brackets onto thelog splitter using
M6×8 screws.
2. Slide thewheels onto theaxles.
3. Secure thewheels using thelocking washers.
4. Fit thehub caps onto thewheels.

Control levers
Attach thecontrol levers using M10×30 bolts, washers
and nuts. Makesure that thelink to thepush rod slots into
thecontrollevers.
Support table
Thesupport table can be fixed in 3 positions.
Danger! This is dangerous and might result in
personal injury.
Insert thearms of thesupport table as far as possible into
both side brackets. Make sure that thelugs on theends
of thearms hook onto theback of thebrackets.

Operating instructions
Familiarise yourself with thecontrols and make sure that you
understand how thelog splitter works before beginning work.
Note: Thelog splitter is sold fitted with atransport cap on theoiltank.
Thetransport cap must be changed for theoil filler cap/dipstick
before thelog splitter is used. Thelog splitter must be used with not
thetransport cap fitted.
Moving and positioning the log splitter
Note: Bearin mind that thelog splitter is very heavy, get
someone to help you if you are unsure whether or not you can
move italone.
1. Grasp thetransportation handles, tilt thelog splitter towards
you slightly and roll it to thenew location.
2. Stand thelog splitter on afirm, level surface where there is
no risk of it tipping over.
Note: Ifthelog splitter is hoisted using acrane,
attach thelifting slings to suitably secure lifting
points. Do fasten lifting slings around NOT
thetransportation handles.
Things to consider before beginning work
Preparing the work area
• Thelog splitter is sold with hydraulic oil in it, always check thelevel of theoil before starting work.
Removetheoil filler cap. Thecap has adipstick attached. Thelevel should be 1–2 cm below thelip of theoil
tank, on thebevelled part of thedipstick.
• Position thelog splitter in such away that you can safely reach thelogs to besplit.
• Prepare aplace for stacking thesplit logs away from thelog splitter.
• Keep thework area uncluttered and free of split logs to reduce therisk of tripping and personal injury.
• Position themains lead in such away that it will not be damaged during operation of thelog splitter.
Ensurealso that themains lead does not constitute atripping hazard.
Danger: Risk of personal injury!
• Thelog splitter must only be operated if it is correctly assembled and undamaged.
• Any damaged or missing parts must be replaced before thelog splitter isused.
Warning: Risk of damage to thelog splitter!
• Check thelevel of thehydraulic oil before use.
• Using thelog splitter with too little oil will damage it.
Warning: Risk of damage to thelog splitter!
• When thelog splitter is switched on, thewedge will travel up to its maximum height.
• Check that there is at least 1 m of free space above thelog splitter.
