LANCOM GE PoE+ Injector
Installation . . . c o n n e c t i n g y o u r b u s i n e s s
The LANCOM GE PoE+ Injector operates as a compact 1 port PoE+ injector ccompliant
to the PoE standards IEEE 802.3at and 802.3af. It supports gigabit connections and is
ideally suited for power supply of PoE+ devices via CAT5 Ethernet cable (or better) for
distances up to 100 m. Further technical details can be found in the datasheets at
www.lancom.eu.
CWhen feeding power to PoE+ devices in outdoor applications it may be
necessary to install lightning or surge protecting equipment. Further informa-
tion on lightning protection can be found in the LANCOM Outdoor Wireless
Guide, which can be downloaded from www.lancom.eu.
Connectors and LEDs of the LANCOM GE PoE+ Injector
On one side of the LANCOM GE PoE+ Injector you will find the connection interface for
the included IEC power cord. The other side of the injector offers two RJ45 sockets for
LAN cable connection and two LEDs for status display.

Mounting and connecting
AOptionally the LANCOM GE PoE+ Injector can be wall mounted using the holders
CDo not cover the housing of the LANCOM GE PoE+ Injectors and provide
sufficient air flow to avoid overheating of the device.
BConnect the LANCOM GE PoE+ Injector to an appropriate AC outlet (100 to
240 V AC) using the included power cord.
CConnect the Data In port of the PoE+ injector to a free switch port using a CAT5
Ethernet cable (or better).
DConnect the Data & Power Out port of the PoE+ injector to the PoE+ device using
a CAT5 Ethernet cable (or better).
DDo not use a cross over cable for connection between PoE+ injector and PoE+
device. Cross over cables use an improper pin assignment.
IPlease observe that the maximum distance between PoE+ injector and PoE+
device does not exceed 100 m. The PoE+ injector is not a repeater and cannot
amplify the data signal.
According to the WEEE directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment) this device may not be disposed in your general hou-
sehold waste. Dispose the product to an appropriate collection sys-
tem for further recycling.

Verify the connection to the AC outlet and the power cord.
Verify that the voltage at the power inlet is between 100 and
240 VAC.
Remove and re-apply power to the device. Check the indicators
during the up sequence.
The LAN LED is
not lit and the
PoE+ device
does not ope-
rate.
The injector did not detect a PoE+ device and therefore the port
is not enabled.
Verify that the connected device is designed for PoE+ opera-
tion.
Verify that you are using a standard CAT5 Ethernet cable (or
better) for the connection between PoE+ injector and PoE+
device. Do not use cross over cables!
If an external power splitter is in use, replace it with a known
verified splitter.
Ensure that the Ethernet cable is connected to the Data-In port.
Verify that the PoE+ device is connected to the Data & Power
Out port.
Try to reconnect the PoE+ device using a different PoE+ injector
to locate the error.
Verify that there is no short circuit over one of the Ethernet
cables.
The PoE+ device
operates, but
there is no data
link.
Verify that the LAN LED is lit permanently.
If an external power splitter is in use, replace it with a known
verified splitter.
Verify that you are using a standard CAT5 Ethernet cable (or
better) for the connection between PoE+ injector and PoE+
device. Do not use cross over cables!
Verify that the Ethernet cable length from the PoE+ injector to
the PoE+ device does not exceed 100 m.
Try to reconnect the PoE+ device using a different PoE+ injector
to locate the error.
