The story of Billund Airport – Denmark’s second largest airport
– is closely tied to the LEGO® Brick.
The LEGO Group built its own runway and purchased its first
aeroplane in 1962, paving the way for the first air route between
Billund and Copenhagen to open on 1 November 1964.
Today, Billund Airport serves as the international airport for
all of West Denmark and plays a major role in the region’s
development. You cannot create growth and development
without infrastructure, and the airport is the lifeblood, which
makes West Denmark international and ensures good
development opportunities, with a large number of airlines
ferrying people and freight around the globe.
In this box you will find a miniature version of Billund Airport
as it has appeared since 2018. Only 10,000 of these sets will
be manufactured.
