lugnutwrenchareunderthecargocoverinthetrunkofthevehicle.

FusesIfyourelectricalcomponentsaren’tworkingproperly,afusemayhaveblown.Formore

FuelPumpShut-offSwitchThisdevicestopstheelectricfuelpumpfromsendingfueltothe

enginewhenyourvehiclehashadasubstantialjolt.Afteranaccident,iftheenginecranksbutdoes

notstart,thisswitchmayhavebeenactivated.Thefuelpumpshut-offswitchislocatedinthefront

passengerfootwellareaintherightuppercorner.

UnleadedFuelRecommendationsForoptimumperformanceuse“Regular”unleadedfuel

withapump(R+M)/2octaneratingofatleast87.Wedonotrecommendtheuseofgasolineslabeled

as“Regular”withoctaneratingsof86orlowerthataresoldinhighaltitudeareas.

TirePressureSafeoperationofyourMontegorequiresthatyourtiresbeproperlyinflated.The

MercuryrecommendedinflationpressureisfoundontheTireLabelortheCertificationLabellocated

nearthefrontdoorlatchonthedriver’sside.Atleastonceamonthandbeforelongtrips,inspecteach

tireandchecktheairpressurewithadigitalordial-typetiregauge.Don’tforgetthespare.Airpressure

shouldbecheckedwhenthetiresarecold.Inflatealltirestotheinflationpressurerecommendedby

FordMotorCompany.

RearWindowBuffetingWhenoneorbothofyourrearwindowsarefullyopen,youmay

experienceawindthroborbuffetingnoise.Thisiscommonamongallvehiclesandcanbeeliminated

simplybyloweringafrontwindowtwotothreeinches.

RoadsideAssistanceInadditiontoyourNewVehicleLimitedWarranty,Mercuryprovidesnew

vehicleownerswithacomplimentaryroadsideassistanceprogram.Thisserviceisavailable24hours

aday,sevendaysaweek,forthreeyearsor36,000miles(60,000km).Itcoverschangingaflattire,

thedriverofobstaclesneartherearbumperwhenR(Reverse)isselectedandthevehicleismovingat

speedslessthan3mph(5km/h).Thesystemisnoteffectiveatspeedsabove3mph(5km/h)and

maynotdetectcertainangularormovingobjects.TheRSSdetectsobstaclesupto6feet(2meters)

fromtherearbumperwithadecreasecoverageareaattheoutercornersofthebumper.Whenthe
