Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the
appliance and save it for future reference.
If you have had oral or gum surgery in the previous
2 months, consult your dentist before you use the
toothbrush.
Consult your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs
after using this toothbrush or if bleeding continues
to occur after 1 week of use.
The Sonicare toothbrush complies with the safety
standards for electromagnetic devices. If you have a
pacemaker or other implanted device, consult your
doctor or the manufacturer of the implanted device
if you have any questions about using the Sonicare.
This appliance has only been designed for cleaning
teeth, gums and tongue. Do not use it for any
other purpose. Discontinue use of this product
and contact a physician if discomfort or pain is
experienced.
Consult your physician prior to using the Sonicare
if you have medical concerns.
The Sonicare toothbrush is a personal care device
and is not intended for use on multiple patients in a
dental practice or institution.
If this product appears damaged in any way (brush
head, toothbrush handle) discontinue use.
This product contains no serviceable parts. If
repair is needed please refer to the Guarantee and
service section of this manual and contact one of
our representatives.
Do not use the toothbrush in the bath or shower.
Stop using a brush head with crushed or bent
bristles. Replace the brush head every 3 months or
sooner if signs of wear appear.Do not use other
brush heads than the ones recommended by the
manufacturer.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.
If your toothpaste contains peroxide, baking soda
or bicarbonate (common in whitening toothpastes),
thoroughly clean the brush head and the
handle with soap and water after each use.
Electromagnetic elds (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards
regarding electromagnetic elds (EMF). If handled
properly and according to the instructions in this user
manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientic
evidence available today.
To avoid damage due to battery lea-
kage:
Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures,
e.g. caused by direct sunlight or heating devices.
Do not leave empty batteries in the appliance.

Getting started
Installing or replacing batteries
1 Remove the battery compartment cap from the
bottom of the handle by pulling on the grips (Fig. 2).
2 Insert two AA 1.5-volt batteries into the handle.
Make sure the + and - poles of the batteries match
the indication on the inside of the handle (Fig. 3).
3 Firmly push the battery compartment cap back
onto the handle (Fig. 4).
Attaching the brush head
1 Align the front of the brush head with the front of
the toothbrush handle.

2 Push the brush head onto the shaft (Fig. 5).
Colour code sticker
If you have multiple Sonicare battery toothbrushes in
your home, you can attach the white or silver sticker
to the battery cap. This helps you identify your handle
(Fig. 6).
Using the Sonicare
1 Wet the bristles and apply a small amount of
toothpaste.
2 Place the toothbrush bristles against the teeth at a
slight angle towards the gumline (Fig. 7).
3 Hold the handle with a light grip and switch on
the Sonicare. Gently move the brush head slowly
across the teeth in a small back and forth motion
so the longer bristles reach between your teeth.
Continue this motion throughout the 2-minute
brushing cycle.
4 To maximise effectiveness, apply only light pressure
and let the toothbrush do the brushing for you.
Do not scrub.
5 To make sure you brush evenly throughout the
mouth, divide your mouth into 4 sections: outside
top teeth, inside top teeth, outside bottom teeth
and inside bottom teeth. Brush each section for
30 seconds for a total brushing time of 2 minutes.
Start with section 1 (outside top teeth) and
then brush section 2 (inside top teeth). Continue
with section 3 (outside bottom teeth) and
nallybrushsection4(insidebottomteeth)(Fig.8).
6 After you have completed the 2-minute brushing
cycle, you can spend additional time brushing the
chewing surfaces of your teeth and areas where
staining occurs. You may also brush your tongue,
with the toothbrush switched on or off, as you
prefer (Fig. 9).
The Sonicare is safe to use on:
Braces (brush heads wear out sooner when used on
braces)
Dental restorations (llings, crowns, veneers)
Periodontal pockets
Features
Smartimer
After 2 minutes, the Smartimer automatically
switches off the toothbrush.
To pause or stop brushing during the 2-minute cycle,
press the on/off button. If you press the on/off button
again within 30 seconds, the Smartimer picks up
where you left off.
Battery indicator (select models)
The battery indicator shows the amount of power left in
the batteries.
Solid green light indicates there are at least 16 two-
minute brushings available (Fig. 10).
Flashing green light indicates there are less than
16 brushings available.
Three beeps at the end of a two-minute brushing
indicate that there are less than 4 two-minute
brushings available.
Note: The toothbrush switches on for one second and then
immediately switches off again to indicate that you have to
replace the batteries.
Note: The number of brushings you get from new batteries
may vary depending on the type of batteries you use.
Easy-start
This Sonicare model has the Easy-start feature, which
helps you get used to brushing with the Sonicare.
The brushing power gently increases to full power
over the rst 14 brushings.
Note: Each of the rst 14 brushings must be at least 1 minute
in length to advance through the Easy-start ramp-up cycle
properly.
Note: Prior to a clinical test, ensure that the Easy-start
process has been completed, attach a new brush head and
install new AA alkaline batteries.

Cleaning
Do not place brush heads and the handle in the
dishwasher.
1 Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use.
Let the brush head air-dry only (Fig. 11).
2 Remove the brush head once a week and clean the
connection between the brush head and the handle
(Fig. 12).
Do not use sharp objects to press on the rubber seal,
as this may cause damage.
3 Clean the remainder of the handle periodically with
mild soap and a moist cloth (Fig. 13).
Storage
If you are not going to use the toothbrush for a long
time (a month or longer), remove the batteries, clean the
appliance and store it in a cool and dry place.
Replacement
Brush head
Replace Sonicare brush heads every 3 months to
achieve optimal results.
Use only Sonicare HydroClean replacement brush
heads with the Sonicare B400 model.
Environment
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal
household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in
at an ofcial collection point for recycling. By doing
this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 14).
Batteries contain substances that may pollute the
environment. Do not throw away batteries with the
normal household waste, but hand them in at an
ofcial collection point. Always remove the batteries
before you discard or hand in the appliance at an
ofcial collection point.

Isætning eller udskiftning af batterier
1 Fjern dækslet til batterirummet fra bunden af

2 Isæt 2 stk. AA 1,5-volt batterier i håndgrebet.
Sørg for, at + og - polerne på batterierne svarer til
indikationerneindeihåndgrebet(g.3).

Montering af børstehovedet
1 Sæt børstehovedet på håndgrebet således, at
fronten på både børstehoved og håndgreb vender
samme vej.
2 Sætbørstehovedetpåskaftet(g.5).
Mærkat med farvekode
Hvis du har ere Sonicare-batteritandbørster i
husstanden, kan du klæbe den hvide eller sølvfarvede
mærkat på batteridækslet, så man bedre kan se, hvis
der er hvis (g. 6).
Brug af Sonicare
1 Fugt børstehårene og kom lidt tandpasta på.
2 Placér børstehårene mod tænderne i en lille vinkel
modtandkødslinjen(g.7).
3 Hold håndgrebet med let hånd og tænd Sonicare.
Før børstehovedet langsomt og blidt frem og
tilbage over tænderne, så de længste børstehår når
ind mellem tænderne. Fortsæt på denne måde i
2 minutter.
4 Brug kun et let tryk, og lad tandbørsten
gøre arbejdet for dig for at opnå en effektiv
tandbørstning. Tænderne skal ikke skrubbes.
5 Du kan sikre, at du børster jævnt i hele munden
ved at opdele munden i 4 sektioner: Ydersiden i
overmunden, indersiden i overmunden, ydersiden i
undermunden og indersiden i undermunden. Børst
hver sektion i 30 sekunder, så den samlede børstetid
bliver på 2 minutter. Start med sektion 1 (ydersiden
i overmunden), og børst derefter sektion 2
(indersiden i overmunden). Fortsæt med sektion
3 (ydersiden i undermunden) og til sidst sektion 4
(indersideniundermunden)(g.8).
6 Når du har børstet tænderne i 2 minutter, kan du
brugeyderligeretidpåatbørstetyggeaderne

misfarvning. Du kan også børste tungen med
tandbørsten tændt eller slukket, alt efter hvad du
foretrækker(g.9).
Det er sikkert at bruge Sonicare på:
Bøjler (børstehovedet slides hurtigere, når det bruges
på tandbøjler)
Tandrekonstruktioner (plomber, kroner, lakeringer)
Tandkødslommer
Funktioner
smartimer
Efter 2 minutter slukker Smartimer-funktionen
automatisk for tandbørsten.
Tryk på on/off-knappen for at holde pause eller
stoppe børstningen i løbet af den 2-minutters
børstecyklus. Trykkes på on/off-knappen igen inden
for 30 sekunder, fortsætter Smartimer-funktionen,
hvor du stoppede.
Batteriindikator (udvalgte modeller)
Batteriindikatoren viser den aktuelle batterikapacitet.
Lyser den konstant grøn, betyder det, at der er strøm
til mindst 16 x 2-minutters børstetid (g. 10).
Blinker den grønt, betyder det, at der er er strøm til
mindre end 16 x 2-minutters børstetid.
Tre bip efter en 2-minutters børstning indikerer,
at der kun er strøm til mindre end 4 x 2 minutter
tilbage.
Bemærk: Tandbørsten tænder i et sekund og slukker derefter
straks igen for at indikere, at du skal udskifte batterierne.
Bemærk: Antallet af tandbørstninger med nye batterier
varierer, afhængigt af hvilken type batterier du anvender.
Easy-start
Denne Sonicare-model indeholder funktionen Easy-
start, der gør det nemmere at vænne sig til at børste
tænder med Sonicare.
Børstestyrken vil i løbet af de første 14 børstninger
gradvist og blidt tiltage til fuld styrke.
Bemærk: Hver af de første 14 børstninger skal være af
mindst 1 minuts varighed, for at børstestyrken tiltager ved
næste børstning.

Rengøring

2 Tag børstehovedet af en gang om ugen, og rengør
forbindelseselementet mellem børstehoved og
håndtag.(g.12)
Undlad brug af skarpe genstande på tætningsringen for
at undgå, at denne beskadiges.
3 Rengør resten af håndtaget jævnligt med mild sæbe
ogenfugtigklud(g.13).
Opbevaring
Hvis du ikke skal bruge tandbørsten i et stykke tid (en
måned eller længere), skal du tage batterierne ud, rengøre
apparatet og opbevare den på et koldt og tørt sted.
Udskiftning
Børstehoved
Udskift Sonicare-børstehovederne hver 3. måned for
at opnå det bedste resultat.
Brug kun Sonicare HydroClean-børstehoveder til
Sonicare B400-modellen.
Miljøhensyn
Apparatet må ikke smides ud sammen med det
almindelige husholdningsaffald, når det til sin tid
kasseres. Aevér det i stedet på en kommunal
genbrugsstation. På den måde er du med til at
beskytte miljøet (g. 14).
Batterier indeholder stoffer, der kan skade miljøet.
Smid aldrig batterier ud sammen med det normale
husholdningsaffald, men aevér dem på et ofcielt
indsamlingssted for brugte batterier. Fjern altid
batterierne, inden apparatet til sin tid kasseres eller
aeveres på et ofcielt indsamlingssted.
