Specic Safety
Pressure Tester Safety
WARNING: Do not over pressurise the system; excessive pressure may cause failure of the radiator,
hoses, etc.
WARNING: DO NOT open the radiator/expansion tank cap whilst the coolant system is hot.
WARNING: Take care when working with cooling systems that are hot or pressurised, as there is a
high risk of scalding occurring. Always wear hand and eye protection.
Be aware that failure of the workpiece or accessories, or even of the inserted tool itself, can generate
high-velocity projectiles
Use of the tool can expose the operator’s hands to hazards, including cuts, abrasions, heat and
carcinogenic oils. Wear suitable gloves to protect hands
When operating the compression tester be aware of moving components within the engine bay
Do not use the tool if there are signs of damage. Split hoses and damaged connectors could break
abruptly, causing serious injury
• Donotwearloosettingclothing,neckties,jewellery,orotheritemswhichmaybecomecaught.Long
hair should be covered or tied back
Intended Use
Radiator pressure test kit for testing the integrity of vehicle cooling systems through the use of a pump
with pressure gauge, various coolant system radiator caps, and expansion tank cap adaptors.
Unpacking Your Tool
Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and functions
Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or
damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool

Setting up the tool
WARNING: DO NOT open the radiator/expansion tank cap whilst the coolant system is hot.
WARNING: Take care when working with cooling systems that are hot or pressurised, as there is
a high risk of scalding occurring. Always wear hand and eye protection.
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection as well as suitable gloves when working with this tool.
Coolant System Leak Test
See Fig. I & Fig. II
4. When the engine is cool or warm, carefully undo and remove the radiator or expansion cap with
a cloth and gloves
5. Cleanaroundthettingwithadampcloth
6. Select the Adaptor suitable for the cooling system to be tested (see ‘Product Familiarisation’)
and screw securely onto the radiator or expansion tank
7. Connect the Pump (20) to the Cap Adaptor via the Bayonet Coupler (22)
Radiator/Expansion Tank Cap Leak Test
See Fig. III
8. When the engine is cool or warm, carefully undo and remove the radiator or expansion cap with
a cloth and gloves
9. Clean the cap with a damp cloth
10. Select the appropriate Adaptor (13)(14) and Cap and attach to the Pump
11. Attach the vehicles Cap to the end of the Adaptor
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection as well as suitable gloves when working with this tool.
WARNING: Avoid pressuring system to 35psi or more.
Coolant System Leakage Test
See Fig. I & Fig. II
1. Once the tool is connected to the coolant system (see Setting up the tool), pressurise the system
using the Hand Pump (20)
2. Check the reading on the dial gauge and compare with the relevant manufacturers instruction or
manual.
3. A drop in the value indicated on the Gauge (19) once pressurised indicates a leak in the coolant
system
4. Once the test is complete, release the pressure from the system by pressing the Pressure Release
Valve (21)
5. Remove the pump assembly and the Cap Adaptor and replace the original cap securely
Radiator/Expansion Tank Cap Leak Test
See Fig. III
1. Once the tool is connected to the radiator/expansion tank cap pressurise using the Hand Pump
2. Check the reading on the dial gauge and compare with the relevant manufacturer’s instruction or
manual
3. A drop in the value indicated on the Gauge (19) once pressurised indicates a defective cap
4. Once the test is complete release the pressure from the system by pressing the Pressure Release
Valve (21)
5. Remove the pump assembly and the Cap Adaptor from the cap

Maintenance
Cleaning
Attach a Test Adaptor to the Bayonet Coupler of the Hand Pump and pump the handle a few
times to remove and residual water from the Pump or Adaptor
Keep your compression tester clean. Ensure screw threads do not become dirty. If necessary
clean with a damp cloth and warm water
Maintenance
Drop pneumatic oil into the air hole of the Hand Pump to Lubricate the piston inside the Pump
before and after use
