ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT
FATTY 311 honors the tonal legacy of the Conn Prelude 311 organ. C.G. Conn Ltd., sometimes called Conn
Instruments or commonly just Conn, was an American manufacturer incorporated in 1915. Its early
business was based primarily on brass instruments manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana. During the 1950s, its
best seller became the electric organ. After the household organ craze died down (50-70), Conn went
bankrupt and was eventually bought by Steinway in 2000.
Charles G. Conn was a Civil War veteran of the U.S. Army who established a grocery and baking business in
Elkhart, Indiana after the war. He also played cornet in the local community band. He started out inventing
cornet mouthpieces, and by 1905, Conn had the world's largest musical instrument factory producing a full
line of wind instruments, strings, percussion, and a portable organ.

Our lovely Prelude has a real spring reverb unit, two 44 key keyboards, a Min-O-Matic rhythm machine, and
tons of emulated sounds of clarinet, trombone, violin, guitar tremolo, and more. The instrument's classic
wooden body echoes the popular aesthetics of the 1970s and its beefy, warm analog sound can cut through
any mix. We sampled its best sustains, staccatos, and effects in three microphone positions to bring your
midi to life. You can easily use vibrato and a special "Octave" knob, which spices up your tone by smoothly
rolling in lower and higher octaves. We've also included tons of custom FX patches and sound-designed
ambient synth pads created from the source to make this library extraordinarily playable and versatile.
Whether you're looking to recreate an old videogame sound, huge synth bass tone or play straight from the
hymnal, Fatty 311 can get you there!
In the advanced settings pull-down window, you’ll also nd an adaptable per-layer LFO system, with
selectable LFO shape, modulation target parameter, speed, intensity, tempo-syncing and fade-in time. You
can also apply your choice of 13 lowpass, high-pass and FX lters, with assignable modulation targets such
as velocity, mod-wheel, expression, after-touch, key position and step-sequencer table control. Our
customizable arpeggiator features a built-in velocity sequencer table and control over arp direction, note
timing, swing, randomization and duration.
The built-in modular FX rack window offers 27 different DSP effect modules that you can assign in any of 8
available slots, in any order that you wish. You’ll nd classic phase, anger, delay, distortion, amp and cab
simulators, compressors, EQ, rotator and so much more. The Reverb effect includes 99 of our own
convolution reverb impulse presets. We’ve captured a huge variety of different rooms, halls, chambers and
outdoor environments, along with 139 unique, strange and creative special effect impulses to completely
transform the sound and open up whole new worlds of musical possibility.
CREATIVE CONTROL FEATURES
We’ve packed the user interface with powerful sound-shaping controls to give you complete exibility. The
master preset contains every sample in the library and a host of powerful expression features. There are 4
independent sound layers, each with a full set of parameters that can be linked, automated and customized.
These include swell, attack, start offset, release (with pad-mode), vibrato, lter, coarse and ne pitch, sound
bank selection, and crossfader assignment.
Next, we used various sound-design tricks to morph the sounds from our journey into tonal and dissonant
pads, synth-tones and ambient dreamscapes. You’ll nd these in the Layer 4 sound menu. They can be
played by themselves, or used to add texture and body to the primary sounds in Layers 1-3. Layer 4 also
include a basic synthesizer with several shapes that can be added for transient and tonal support.
