TheLP5520isanRGBbacklightLEDdriverforsmall

formatcolorLCDs.RGBbacklightsenablebetter

colorsonthedisplayandpowersavingscompared

withwhiteLEDbacklights.Thedeviceoffersasmall

andsimpledriversolutionwithoutneedforoptical

feedback.Calibrationindisplaymoduleproduction

canbedoneinonetemperature.TheLP5520

producestruewhitelightoverawidetemperature

range.ThreeindependentLEDdrivershaveaccurate

programmablecurrentsinksandPWMmodulation

control.Usinginternalcalibrationmemoryand

externaltemperaturesensor,theRGBLEDcurrents

areadjustedforperfectwhitebalanceindependentof

thebrightnesssettingortemperature.Theuser

programmablecalibrationmemoryhasintensityvs

temperaturedataforeachcolor.Thiswhitebalance

calibrationdatacanbeprogrammedtothememory

ontheproductionlineofabacklightmodule.

Thedevicehasamagneticboostconverterthat

createsasupplyvoltageofupto20VLEDfromthe

batteryvoltage.Theoutputcanbesetat1-Vsteps

from5Vto20V.Inadaptivemodethecircuit

automaticallyadjuststheoutputvoltagetominimum

sufficientlevelforlowestpowerconsumption.

Temperatureismeasuredusinganexternal

temperaturesensorplacedclosetotheLEDs.The

secondADCinputcanbeused,forexample,for

ambientlightmeasurement.
