VOX amPlug I/O Owner’s Manual

Thank you for purchasing the VOX amPlug I/O Audio Interface with Tuner.

To take full advantage of this product and to ensure trouble-free operation,

please read this owner’s manual carefully and use the product as directed.

Installing Batteries

Remove the battery compartment cover. Insert

two AAA batteries as shown in the figure to

the left. Be sure to observe the correct polarity

when installing the batteries.Replace the bat-

teries when the power indicator becomes blink.

Note: Depleted batteries must be removed

from the amPlug I/O immediately. If you leave

them in, malfunctions such as battery leakage

may occur. You should also remove the batteries if you will not be using

the amPlug I/O for an extended period of time.

1. Input plug: Connect your guitar. Swivel the plug as shown. Adjust the

plug angle according to the guitar being used.

2. Power indicator: This indicates whether amPlug I/O is bus-powered or

self-powered (batteries) when it is turned on.

Lights up in green: Bus powered

Lights up in red: Self powered (batteries)

button (tuner power): This turns on/off amPlug I/O when it is self-

powered, or turns on/off the tuner. (→ “Tuning”)

4. USB port: This is where you would use the included USB cable to connect

amPlug I/O to a computer.

5. Battery/bus power switch: This switches the power being used.

6. GUITAR switch: Adjust according to the output level of the guitar.

7. VOLUME control: This adjusts the output level of the PHONES jack.

8. PHONES jack: This is where you would connect headphones, a mixer

or a recording device.

9. LED meter: As with a meter on a tuner, this shows the shift in pitch

of each string.

Tip: When the

button is held down for approximately one second, the

remaining battery level is shown on the LED meter.

Connecting to the Computer

By connecting amPlug I/O to a computer running Windows 7 or later or

Mac OS 10.8 or later, audio can be recorded and played back. amPlug I/O

can also be used with an Apple iOS device (iOS 7 or later) by using the

Apple USB camera adapter (sold separately).

When connecting to an iOS device, use amPlug I/O on self-powered

(Batteries) mode.

About the VOX USB-ASIO driver (Windows only)

Before using the amPlug I/O, we recommend that you install the VOX

USB-ASIO driver. Download the VOX USB-ASIO driver from the VOX

website (www.voxamps.jp).

Using amPlug I/O Bus-Powered

Set the battery/bus power switch on amPlug I/O to “USB”, and then connect

amPlug I/O to the computer using the included USB cable. The power indi-

cator lights up in green, and amPlug I/O will operate as an audio interface.

When the USB cable is disconnected from the computer, amPlug I/O turns off.

Using amPlug I/O Self-Powered (Batteries)

Set the battery/bus power switch on amPlug I/O to “BATTERY”, and then

hold down the button for approximately one second. The power indicator

lights up in red, and amPlug I/O will operate as an audio interface/tuner.

Connect amPlug I/O to the iOS device or computer using the included USB cable.

When the USB cable is disconnected from the connected device, the audio

interface function turns off. To turn off the tuner function, hold down

the button for approximately one second.

Tip: If amPlug I/O is not connected to an iOS device or a computer when

the

button is held down for approximately one second, amPlug I/O

turns off (the audio interface and tuner functions turn off).

Tuning

1. Hold down the button for approximately one second.

The tuner function turns on, and the LED meter lights up.

When using amPlug I/O as a tuner, set the battery/bus power switch

to “BATTERY”. If amPlug I/O is not connected to a computer when

the battery/bus power switch is set to “USB” (bus powered), the tuner

function cannot be turned on, even if batteries are installed.

2. Play a single tone with the string that you want to tune.

From “

” in the LED meter, the LED for the string

number closest to the played tone will flash. Tune the string until the

LED for the string being tuned flashes.

3. Tune the string until “ ” at the center of the LED meter lights up. If the 

note is flat, “

” on the left side will light up. If the note is sharp,

“ ” on the right side will light up.

For flat tuning, press the

button while the tuner function is turned on.

“ b ” will light up, and the guitar can be tuned down a semitone. When

the button is pressed again, “ ” will turn off, and amPlug I/O will b

return to regular tuning.

To turn off the tuner function, hold down the button for approximately

one second. The LED meter turns off.

If there is no sound input for approximately 5 minutes while the tuner

function is turned on, amPlug I/O automatically turns off (power save

function). To use the tuner function again, press the button to turn it on.

Caution

•

When disconnecting amPlug I/O from your guitar, you must grasp

amPlug I/O near the base of its Input plug. If you grasp it at the end, you

risk breaking amPlug I/O.

•

Disconnect amPlug I/O from your guitar before leaning your guitar

against a wall or laying it on the floor. If you fail to do so, amPlug I/O or

your guitar may strike the floor and be damaged.

•

When connecting the USB cable to amPlug I/O, do not operate its

switches or the VOLUME control. Otherwise, the connected device may

be incorrectly detected.
