Safety Precautions
Before beginning the installation, please read and understand the following safety
precautions:
This product is designed for use in countries with 100, 120, or 230 Vac
electrical utilities.
Do not install during a lightning storm! Install in a dry environment.
Prior to installing a PnotePro-EC Surge Protector, turn off and unplug all
equipment to be protected.
General Installation
Confirm that the notebook power and the telephone dial tone are working prior to
installing the Surge Protector.
1. Turn off and unplug the equipment to be protected.
2. Unplug the power cord from the end of the notebook power adapter and plug it
into the end of the PnotePro-EC Surge Protector. Plug the other end of the
PnotePro-EC Surge Protector into the power adapter (Figures 1 and 2).
3. Disconnect the telephone cable from the wall and plug it into the PnotePro-EC
Surge Protector jack marked with the icon (Figure 3).
4. Plug one end of the supplied telephone cable into the wall telephone jack and
plug the other end into the PnotePro-EC Surge Protector jack marked with the
icon (Figure 3).
Modem Installation (Figure 3)
To protect your modem, plug the modem cable into the PnotePro-EC Surge
Protector jack marked with the icon. Do not use with ISDN or digital telephone
lines.
Network Installation (Figure 4)
For use in network applications (10Base-T or 100Base-T2), connect one end of a
network cable into the network jack. Plug the other end into the PnotePro-EC
Surge Protector jack marked with the icon. Connect a network cable from the
jack marked with the icon to the network card of the computer. Do not
connect the PNotePro-EC to a network and telephone system at the same time.
Traveling with the unit
For your convenience, a strap has been supplied for mounting the PnotePro-EC
Surge Protector to the notebook AC adapter, or for gathering/packing your cords.

Limited Product Warranty
American Power Conversion offers a 5 year limited product warranty
(worldwide) and a lifetime product warranty (US and Canada only) on the APC
Notebook Pro Surge Protector. APC warrants its products to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for the
lifetime of the original purchaser. Its obligation under this warranty is limited to
repairing or replacing, at its sole option, any such defective products. To obtain
service under warranty you must obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA)
number from APC (www.apcc.com or 1-800-800-4APC) or an APC Service
Center. The Notebook Pro Surge Protector must be returned with an RMA
number, with transportation charges prepaid and it must be accompanied by a
brief description of the problem and proof of date and place of purchase. This
warranty applies only to the original purchaser.
Telepermit Note
The grant of a Telepermit for any item of terminal equipment indicates only that
Telecom has accepted that the item complies with minimum conditions for
connection to a network. It indicates no endorsement of the product by Telecom,
nor does it provide any sort of warranty. Above all, it provides no assurance that
any item will work correctly in all respects with another item of Telepermitted
equipment of a different make or model, nor does it imply that any product is
compatible with all of Telecom’s network services.
FCC Notice
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules. On the bottom of this
equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC
registration number and ringer equivalence number (REN) for this equipment. If
requested, this information must be provided to the telephone company.

Installation
Avant d’installer le parasurtenseur, vérifiez l’alimentation du portable et la tonalité de
la ligne téléphonique.
1. Éteignez et débranchez les appareils à protéger.
2. Débranchez le cordon d’alimentation de l’adaptateur du portable et branchez-le
dans le parasurtenseur PnotePro-EC. Branchez l’autre extrémité du parasurtenseur
PnotePro-EC dans l’adaptateur (figures 1 et 2).
3. Débranchez le câble téléphonique de la prise murale et branchez-le dans la prise du
parasurtenseur portant l’icône (figure 3).
4. Branchez une extrémité du câble téléphonique fourni dans la prise téléphonique
murale et l’autre dans la prise du parasurtenseur portant l’icône (figure 3).
Installation sur un modem (figure 3)
Pour protéger un modem, branchez son câble dans la prise du parasurtenseur PnotePro-
EC portant l’icône . Ne reliez pas le parasurtenseur PnotePro à des lignes de
téléphonie RNIS ou numériques.
Installation sur un réseau (figure 4)
Si le parasurtenseur PnotePro-EC doit servir à protéger un réseau (10Base-T ou
100Base-T2), branchez une extrémité du câble réseau dans la prise réseau. Branchez
l’autre extrémité du câble dans la prise du parasurtenseur portant l’icône . À l’aide
d’un câble réseau, reliez la prise portant l’icône à la carte réseau de l’ordinateur. Ne
reliez pas simultanément le parasurtenseur PnotePro-EC à un réseau informatique et à
un réseau de téléphonie.
Déplacements avec le parasurtenseur
La sangle d’attache fournie permet de fixer le parasurtenseur PnotePro-EC sur l’adap-
tateur c.a. de votre portable ou de rassembler et lier les différents cordons.

Medidas de seguridad

Este producto p1-ha sido diseñado para utilizarse en países con un suministro eléctri
de 100, 120 ó 230 V c.a.
No lo instale durante una tormenta eléctrica. Instálelo únicamente en un ambiente
seco.
Antes de instalar el protector contra sobretensiones PnotePro-EC, apague y desen-
chufe todos los equipos que va a proteger.
Instalación general
Antes de instalar el protector contra sobretensiones, compruebe la alimentación del
ordenador portátil y el tono de marcación del teléfono.
1. Apague y desenchufe todos los equipos que va a proteger.
2. Desenchufe el cable de alimentación del extremo del adaptador de alimentación del
portátil y enchúfelo en el extremo del protector contra sobretensiones PnotePro-EC.
Enchufe el otro extremo del protector contra sobretensiones PnotePro-EC en el
adaptador de alimentación eléctrica (figuras 1 y 2).
3. Desconecte el cable telefónico de la pared y conéctelo al conector hembra del pro-
tector contra sobretensiones PnotePro-EC identificado con el icono (figura 3).
4. Conecte un extremo del cable telefónico suministrado a la toma de teléfono de la
pared y conecte el otro extremo al conector hembra de teléfono del protector contra
sobretensiones PnotePro-EC identificado con el icono (figura 3).
Instalación del módem (figura 3)
Para proteger su módem, conecte el cable del módem al conector hembra del protector
contra sobretensiones PnotePro-EC identificado con el icono . No utilice el protec-
tor con líneas telefónicas RDSI ni con líneas digitales.
Instalación en red (figura 4)
Para utilizar el protector en aplicaciones de red (10Base-T o 100Base-T2), conecte un
extremo del cable de red al conector de red correspondiente. Conecte el otro extremo al
conector hembra del protector contra sobretensiones PnotePro-EC identificado con el
icono . Conecte un cable de red entre el conector hembra identificado con el icono
y la tarjeta de red del ordenador. No conecte el protector PnotePro-EC simultánea-
mente a una red y a un sistema telefónico.
Transporte de la unidad
Para su conveniencia, se incluye una correa que permite sujetar el protector contra
sobretensiones PnotePro-EC al adaptador de CA del portátil, así como juntar y empa-
car los cables.

Telecom, ni proporciona ningún tipo de garantía. Por encima de todo, no garantiza
que ningún elemento funcione correctamente en relación con otro elemento del
equipo que tenga aprobación Telepermit de diferente marca o modelo, ni implica que
