LP Gas alarm
Art.no 18-2447, 32-8624
The gas alarm requires 2–3 minutes to warm up whenever it is powered up. During this period
the gas alarm may not respond (no alarm) to gas or apush-button test.
Placement
For maximum protection thealarm should be installed on aflat wall in theroom where thegas
appliance is situated and agas leak is most likely to occur. In most installations this will be close
to thecooker in thekitchen or caravan etc. This gas alarm is design to detect primarily LP-gas
(liquefied petroleum gas); however it also detects thepresence of natural gas and should be
mounted differently depending on thetype of explosive gas you intend to detect.
Natural gas is lighter than air so thealarm should be installed higher than thetop of thehighest
outside window or door within aroom. This will usually be no more than 30 centimetres from
theceiling. It should also be between 1 metre and 5 metres from thegas appliance. LPG is heavier
than air so thealarm should be installed close to thelowest point, not more than 30 centimetres
from thefloor and not more than 4 metres from theappliance.
Installation
This gas alarm is design for easy installation and comes complete with screws, mounting bracket
and adaptor. Attach themounting bracket to wall with thescrews provided then twist and lock
thealarm into place (clockwise). Now choose to either plug alarm into astandard 230 V AC outlet
using provided adaptor or directly to a12 V DC source. When thealarm is properly installed,
green LED indicates thealarm is receiving sufficient power. Wait for 2–3 minutes, then push and hold
thetest button for 5–10 seconds. If thealarm is activated theunit is now ready to detect and protect.
Testing and maintenance
Test alarm by using thetest button at least once aweek and always after long absences. Check
that thegreen light diode is active, indicating sufficient current supply. Then press and hold thetest
button until thealarm sounds. Also check that thered light diode flashes during alarm test.
A simple confidence check can be conducted by using asmall disposable cigarette lighter and
Gas safety
If alarm sounds, open all windows and doors to allow thegas to disperse. Don’t switch on/off
lighting, exhausting fan or any kind of electrical appliance to avoid explosion. Check all thegas
appliances, extinguish any open flames including cigarettes and turn off thegas supply and check
hose connectors and pipes for leakages. It’s crucial that thesource(s) of theleak is determined
and appropriate repairs are made. Contact thesupplier of thegas equipment or thefire brigade if
theproblem is not located. In case of immediate danger, always call thefire brigade from outside
thebuilding.
• When leaving theroom where thegas is used, always turn off any equipment and thegas supply.
• Do not make any changes in thegas installation without proper knowledge.
• Let aspecialist inspect your gas installations regularly.
• Avoid sleeping in direct proximity to thegas installations.

pressing thelever normally used to maintain theflame without
lighting it. If this is then held close to thealarm, thered LED
light will come on and thealarm will sound. Make sure to air
out theroom after testing. Vacuum unit regularly and use
acloth to wipe theoutside of thealarm. When used in for
example boats, caravans, mobile homes etc. we recommend
that you store thegas alarm in normal room temperature
during thewinter season, this prolongs its life expectancy.
A gas alarm should be replaced after around 5 years, because
thegas sensor thereafter gradually changes sensitivity.
