11. Do not place electric kettle on or near

12. To disconnect electric kettle, turn

remove plug from wall outlet. To

unplug, grasp the plug and pull from

the outlet. Never pull from the power

cord.

13. Do not use appliance for other than

intended use.

w WARNING

Electric Shock Hazard.

Do not immerse kettle, power base, or

plug in water or any other liquid.

1. With kettle unplugged, empty any

remaining water and rinse. Allow kettle

to cool.

2. To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup,

empty kettle after each use. To

remove discoloration or scale/lime

deposit from heating element: Place

1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) cream of tartar

(available in the spice aisle of grocery

store) into the kettle. Then fill the kettle

1/2 full with water. Plug into outlet,

press down on power switch to turn

ON (l), and bring to boil. The kettle

will switch off automatically when the

water has boiled, or you can push up

on the power switch to turn OFF ( ).

Let cool, and rinse several times with

clean tap water.

3. Wipe the exterior of kettle with a damp

cloth. Do not use abrasive scouring

pads or powders since they may

scratch the smooth surface of the

kettle.

If kettle floor discolors: It is normal

for stainless steel heating elements

to discolor. This does not affect the

performance of the kettle. Do not use

abrasive scouring pads or cleaners

since this may damage the stainless

steel surface.

This warranty applies to products purchased

and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is

the only express warranty for this product

and is in lieu of any other warranty or

condition.

This product is warranted to be free from

defects in material and workmanship for

a period of five (5) years from the date of

original purchase in Canada and one (1)

year from the date of original purchase in

the U.S. During this period, your exclusive

remedy is repair or replacement of this

product or any component found to be

defective, at our option; however, you are

responsible for all costs associated with

returning the product to us and our returning

a product or component under this warranty

to you. If the product or component is no

longer available, we will replace with a

similar one of equal or greater value.

This warranty does not cover glass, filters,

wear from normal use, use not in conformity

with the printed directions, or damage to the

product resulting from accident, alteration,

abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends

only to the original consumer purchaser or

gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt,

as proof of purchase is required to make a

warranty claim. This warranty is void if the

product is used for other than single-family

household use or subjected to any voltage

and waveform other than as specified on the

rating label (e.g., 120 V ~ 60 Hz).

How to use the kettle

w CAUTION

Burn Hazard. Do not

overfill kettle. Boiling water may spit out of

the spout.

BEFORE FIRST USE: Pull up on lid to

remove, and fill kettle with water to the

MAX fill line on the inside of the kettle.

Press down on the power switch to turn

the kettle ON (l). The kettle will bring the

water to a boil, then shut off automatically.

Discard water and repeat 2–3 times,

rinsing out the kettle each time. The kettle

is now ready for use.

1. Remove kettle from power base before

filling.

2. Fill kettle with water. Ensure that water

level is below the MAX fill line.

3. Make sure the lid is in place and the

power base is on a level surface.

4. Plug into outlet and press down on the

power switch to turn ON (l).

NOTE: Only use kettle to heat water. If

kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as

coffee or tea, the warranty will be voided.

either a polarized (one wide blade) or

grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the

risk of electric shock. The plug fits only

one way into a polarized or grounded

• Bring filtered or good-tasting tap water

to a boil in the kettle. Use 6 ounces

(177 ml) of water per cup of tea.

• If using loose tea instead of tea bags,

measure 1 rounded teaspoon of tea per

cup into an infuser and place the infuser

in the cup. If no infuser is available, put

the tea directly into the cup.

• Pour heated water directly over the

tea. For stronger tea, add more leaves

rather than infusing longer than is

recommended.

NOTE: Tea that is oversteeped will

become bitter.

Utilisation de la bouilloire électrique

w ATTENTION

AVANT LA PREMIÈRE UTILISATION :

Tirer sur le couvercle vers le haut pour

le retirer et remplir la bouilloire avec de

l’eau jusqu’à la ligne MAX inscrite sur

l’intérieur. Appuyer sur l’interrupteur à

la position MARCHE (l) pour mettre la

bouilloire en marche. La bouilloire portera

l’eau à ébullition puis se mettra hors

tension automatiquement. Jeter l’eau et

répéter cette étape 2 à 3 fois en rinçant

chaque fois la bouilloire. La bouilloire est

maintenant prête à utiliser.

1. Retirer la bouilloire du socle électrique

avant de la remplir.

2. Remplir la bouilloire avec de l’eau.

S’assurer que le niveau de l’eau ne

dépasse pas la ligne MAX.

3. S’assurer que le couvercle est bien

fermé et que son socle repose sur une

surface de niveau.

4. Brancher la bouilloire dans une prise

électrique et appuyer sur l’interrupteur à

la position MARCHE (l).

REMARQUE : N’utiliser la bouilloire que

pour faire bouillir de l’eau. La garantie est

annulée si la bouilloire est utilisée pour

faire bouillir d’autres sortes de liquides

comme le café ou le thé.

Guide de préparation du thée

• Porter à ébullition dans la bouilloire

de l’eau filtrée ou de l’eau sapide du
