Overview

Mobile Authentication lets you log in to a printer securely using an iOS or Android

TM mobile device. The mobile

device communicates with the printer through an encrypted Bluetooth® low energy connection, and the user

credentials are authenticated using an identity provider.

This document provides an overview of the components, conﬁguration workﬂow, and the documentation

available for Mobile Authentication.

Components

•Core Authentication Services—A server‑side system that manages and authenticates users by using an

identity provider.

•Mobile Authentication eSF application—Supports the overall authentication process of the back‑end

system that provides an authentication method to the printer. The application is installed and conﬁgured on

the printer.

•LexmarkTM Mobile Authentication application—Provides the registration and login functions to a mobile

device. Download the application from the App Store

SM or the Google PlayTM store application.

•Mobile device registration portal—A web‑based portal where users can scan the Quick Response (QR)

code to register their mobile devices and manage their accounts.

•Mobile Solutions Module—An optional hardware component that provides near ﬁeld communication (NFC)

and Bluetooth low energy capabilities to the printer.
