Transformer for
Car HiFi Power Amplifiers
These operating instructions are intended for
users with basic knowledge in audio technol-
ogy. Please read the instructions carefully prior
to operation and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
The transformer FGA-22S is used for connecting the
line inputs of a car HiFi power amplifier to the speaker
outputs of a car radio. Besides, the electronic system
of the FGA-22S generates a 12 V control voltage to
switch on and off the power amplifier. However, this
control voltage can only be generated if the car radio
is equipped with a bridge power amplifier (usually,
with a radio output power of at least 7 WRMS per
channel at a 4 Ω speaker).
2 Important Notes
The transformer corresponds to all relevant directives
of the EU and is therefore marked with .
•
Protect the transformer against dripping water and
splash water, high air humidity, and heat (admissi-
ble ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
•
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, never use
chemicals or water.
•
No guarantee claims for the transformer and no
liability for any resulting personal damage or ma-
terial damage will be accepted if the transformer is
used for other purposes than originally intended,
if it is not correctly installed or operated, or if it is
not repaired in an expert way.
If the transformer is to be put out of oper-
ation definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
3 Mounting
Expertly fasten the transformer with screws in the
vehicle to ensure that it will not work loose when the
vehicle is in motion!
4 Connection and Setting into Operation
Only make connections with the car HiFi system
switched off. When working on the electric sys-
tem of the car, always disconnect the negative
terminal of the car battery first! All possible
connections are shown in the drawing below. The
dashed connections are only required if the car radio
is not equipped with a control voltage output.
1) Connect the RCA jacks OUTPUT (4) via screened
RCA audio cables to the left and right line inputs
of the power amplifier.
2) Connect the positive and negative poles of the
speaker outputs of the radio to the terminals
INPUT R+, R , L+ and L (1).− −
3) If the car radio is equipped with a control voltage
output, connect this output to the control voltage
input of the power amplifier, if no control voltage
output is available:
Connect the terminal REM of the FGA-22S to the
control voltage input of the power amplifier (pos-
sible marking REM). Connect the terminal B+ via
a fused cable to the 12 V electric system of the car
and the terminal to a ground connection or
to the ground of the car (unpainted, clean spots
free of grease on the chassis). The LED REM (2)
lights up when the control voltage generated by
the FGA-22S is present at the terminal REM.
4) The output level of the transformer can be
adapted to the input of the power amplifier with
the two controls SIGNAL LEVEL (3). Adjust the car
radio to the maximum volume without distortion.
Likewise, adjust the controls of the transformer to
the maximum volume without distortion using a
screwdriver.

Übertrager für Car-HiFi-Endstufen
Diese Anleitung richtet sich an Benutzer mit
Grundkenntnissen in der Audiotechnik. Bitte
lesen Sie die Anleitung vor dem Betrieb gründ-
lich durch und heben Sie sie für ein späteres
Nachlesen auf.
1 Einsatzmöglichkeiten
Der Übertrager FGA-22S dient zum Anschluss der
Line-Eingänge einer Car-HiFi-Endstufe an die Laut-
sprecherausgänge eines Autoradios. Außerdem er-
zeugt die Elektronik des FGA-22S eine 12-V-Schalt-
spannung, mit der die Endstufe ein- und ausgeschaltet
werden kann. Die Schaltspannung kann jedoch nur
erzeugt werden, wenn das Autoradio mit einer Brü-
ckenendstufe ausgestattet ist (in der Regel bei einer
Ausgangsleistung des Radios von mindestens 7 W
Sinus pro Kanal an einem 4-Ω-Lautsprecher).
2 Wichtige Hinweise für den Gebrauch
Der Übertrager entspricht allen relevanten Richtlinien
der EU und trägt deshalb das -Zeichen.
•
Schützen Sie den Übertrager vor Tropf- und
Spritzwasser, hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und Hitze (zu-
lässiger Einsatztemperaturbereich 0 – 40 °C).
•
Verwenden Sie zum Reinigen nur ein trockenes,
weiches Tuch, auf keinen Fall Chemikalien oder
Wasser.
•
Wird der Übertrager zweckentfremdet, nicht rich-
tig installiert, falsch bedient oder nicht fachgerecht
repariert, kann keine Haftung für daraus resultie-
rende Sach- oder Personenschäden und keine
Garantie für das Gerät übernommen werden.
Soll der Übertrager endgültig aus dem
Betrieb genommen werden, übergeben
Sie ihn zur umweltgerechten Entsorgung
einem örtlichen Recyclingbetrieb.
3 Montage
Den Übertrager fachgerecht im Fahrzeug festschrau-
ben, damit er sich während der Fahrt nicht lösen kann!
4 Anschluss und Inbetriebnahme
Alle Anschlüsse nur bei ausgeschalteter Car-HiFi-
Anlage herstellen. Bei Arbeiten am Bordnetz unbe-
dingt zuerst den Minusanschluss der Autobatte-
rie abklemmen! Alle möglichen Verbindungen sind
in der Zeichnung unten dargestellt. Die gestrichelten
Verbindungen werden nur benötigt, wenn am Auto-
radio kein Schaltspannungsausgang vorhanden ist.
1) Die Cinch-Buchsen OUTPUT (4) über abgeschirmte
Cinch-Audiokabel mit dem linken und rechten
Line-Eingang der Endstufe verbinden.
2) Die Plus- und Minuspole der Radio-Lautsprecher-
ausgänge mit den Klemmen INPUT R+, R , L+ und −
L (1) verbinden.−
3) Ist am Autoradio ein Schaltspannungsausgang
vorhanden, diesen mit dem Schaltspannungsein-
gang der Endstufe verbinden, wenn nicht:
Die Klemme REM des FGA-22S an den Schalt-
spannungseingang der Endstufe anschließen
(mögliche Beschriftung REM). Die Klemme B+
über eine abgesicherte Leitung mit der 12-V-Bord-
spannung verbinden und die Klemme
mit
einem Masseanschluss oder mit der Fahrzeug-
masse (unlackierte, saubere, fettfreie Stellen an
der Karosserie). Die LED REM (2) leuchtet, wenn
die vom FGA-22S erzeugte Schaltspannung an der
Klemme REM anliegt.
4) Mit den beiden Reglern SIGNAL LEVEL (3) lässt sich
der Ausgangspegel des Übertragers an den Ein-
gang der Endstufe anpassen. Das Autoradio auf
maximale, nicht verzerrende Lautstärke einstellen.
Die Regler am Übertrager mithilfe eines Schrau-
bendrehers ebenfalls auf maximale, nicht verzer-
rende Lautstärke der Endstufe einstellen.
