Chapter 1
Getting Started
This chapter first tells you step by step how to get the computer up and
running. Then, you will find a section briefly introducing the external
components of the computer.
CAUTION: Safety instructions are provided in related sections throughout
the User Manual. Please read the manual and any accompanying document(s)
before starting to use the product.

Installing the Battery Packs
K 120 has two battery compartments for two battery packs; each is installed
in the same way.
1. With the battery pack correctly oriented, attach its connector side to the
battery compartment at an angle () and then press down the other
side (). The battery latch should automatically engage.release
NOTE: If you have the model, the battery pack looks high- capacity battery
different from the one shown here. The removal and installation method is
the same.
2. Slide the lock of the battery release latch downward to the locked position.
CAUTION: Make sure the latch is correctly locked, not revealing the
underneath red part.

Installing the Micro SIM Card (Optional)-
1. Locate the card slot. Slide the cover to the - micro SIM protective
unlocked position and open the cover.
2. Remove one screw to detach the that covers the small metal plate
micro- . SIM card slot
3. Noting the orientation, insert the card all the way into the micro-SIM
slot.
NOTE: To remove the SIM card, just push in the card to release it and micro-
then pull it out.

Using the Tether
A tether is provided for attaching the stylus to your Tablet.
1. Thread one of the tether s loop through the hole of the stylus ( ), tie a
dead knot at the end (), and pull the tether () so that the knot fills
in the hole and prevents the tether from falling off.
2. Insert the other loop to the tether hole on the T a t (ble ). Then, insert
the stylus through the loop () and pull it tight.

Select models (models with the DC power connector)
Tablet Only: Open the cover of the power connector. The cover is
protected by a security lock. Slide the lock outward to unlock the cover.
Plug the DC cord of the AC adapter to the power connector.
Tablet : + Keyboard Dock Plug the DC cord of the AC adapter to the
power connector.
N :OTE Se “Attaching e the Keyboard Dock to know how to attach the dock
to K120.
2. Plug the female end of the power cord to the adapter and the male end
to an electrical outlet.
NOTE: The power cord type varies with countries. The look of your power
cord and electrical outlet might not match the one shown in this document.

3. Power is being supplied from the electrical outlet to the power adapter
and onto your . Now, you are ready to turn on the computer computer.
Turning On and Off the Computer
Turning On
Press the power button ( ) for at least 2 seconds until the Power Indicator

NOTE:
By default, there is 2 second delay time for the power button. You can -
change the setting with the item in the BIOS Power Button Delay
Setup Utility. (S in Chapter e e Advanced Menu 5 .)
Tapping the screen during startup may invoke a pre boot menu (unless -
the default settings have been changed). If the menu appears, simply
select . Continue
Turning Off
When you finish a working session, you can stop the system off by turning
the power or leaving it in Sleep or Hibernation mode:

With the Keyboard D ock:
Close the top cover.*
Press Fn + F12.*
Hibernate By default, this option is not shown in the Start menu. If
you want to use the feature, set up accordingly in Windows
settings.
*Sleep” is the default result of the action. You can change what the action
does through Windows settings.

Identifying Hardware Components
NOTE: Depending on the model you purchased, the appearance of your
computer may not be exactly the same as those shown in this manual.
CAUTION: You need to open the protective covers to access the connectors.
When not using a connector, make sure to close the cover completely for
water- and dust-proof integrity. Engage the locking mechanism if existing. ( )

Camera indicator
Lights up when the camera is in use.
IR sensor
(optional)
D an etects the infrared energy of objects to form
image. The sensor flashes red light when in use.
The near infrared (IR) imaging capability allows
you to use Windows Hello face authentication.
Camera lens Allows you to use the camera function.
Light sensor Detects the surrounding lighting condition for
automatic adjustment of the LCD brightness.
Touchscreen Displays and receives information for the
computer.
P2 button The default function is Camera or Barcode Trigger
depending on your model.

Starts the G Camera application.-

Serves as the trigger button for the
barcode reader if your model has the
module.
Stereo s peaker Sends out sound and voice from your computer.
Power button Turns the power on or off. (The default “off” state
is “ ”) Sleep mode.
With a default setting of 2 second delay, you have -
to press the button for at least 2 seconds for it to
function.
Indicators
Power Lights blue the power is onwhen .
Blinks blue when the system is in Sleep mode.
Battery Lights amber when the battery is being charged.
Lights green when battery charging is completed.

Component Description
Blinks green to indicate in high -the battery’s built
temperature protection mechanism is activated.
CAUTION: Do not remove the battery during this
period.
Blinks red (once per second) when the battery’s
capacity is below 10%.
Blinks red rapidly (once per 0.5 second) when there
is a thermal protection problem. Ask for repair
service in case this happens.
Blinks amber when the battery charging is in an
abnormal state. Replace the battery in case this
happens.
Airplane
mode
Lights blue when the RF radio of any RF feature
(WLAN/Bluetooth/WWAN) is on. If Airplane mode
is switched on, the light turns off.
Windows logo
button
Opens or closes the Start menu.
Plus button Increases the sound volume.
Minus button Decreases the sound volume.
P1 button Opens or closes the OSD Control Panel.
When pressed longer:
Serves as the keyboard keys.Ctrl+Alt+Del
Fingerprint
scanner
(optional)
Serves as the fingerprint verification, preventing
unauthorized access to your computer.
NOTE: The hardware buttons (except the power button) can be re-defined
using G-Manager.
