you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t, this could be the best three

quid you ever spend.

The premise is so simple it’s pretty surprising not everyone has one

of these stashed away. All it is, is a hex-driver with a ﬂ exible shaft

designed speciﬁ cally to get at all your hard-to-reach hose clips.

Bagging one of these makes plenty of jobs far more simple for any

non-contortionist and also means getting your clips highly torqued can

be achieved with a minimum of slippage. Remember all that arsing

about with a screwdriver? Time to put it all in the past.

TOYO R888R, FROM £TBA

As we found out when we slapped a set on our 350Z and

entered Time Attack last year. In terms of sheer

performance, the super-sticky Toyo R888 was a simply

unbelievable track tyre – it has to be said the hardcore

tread pattern has always looked pretty damn special too.

Maybe that’s why they made it OE equipment on the

legendary RenaultSport Megane R26R.

Anyway the big news is Toyo have now an updated tyre

on the way, the R888R and, from what we can tell, the extra

R stands for Raaaaaaaaarrrrr!

Eventually being rolled out in 32 sizes, covering 13 to

20-inch wheels and a choice of two compounds, this one

boasts even better dry grip, sustained performance over

multiple laps and heat cycles and faster warm up right out

of the box. Not bad considering these surpass the latest

labelling regulations, so you can drive to the circuit with

them already ﬁ tted. Road-legal warm up lap anyone?

The guys at HeatShield Products in the US of A have been making heat

management gear for everyone from world-class tuners to the Ministry of

Defence since the late 1980s. In other words, they really know their stuff and,

now the bods at Old Hall Performance are bringing their products to the UK,

we can all beneﬁ t from their expertise.

These new custom-ﬁ t heat shields for T2, T3, T4 and T6 turbos (with more

ﬁ tments currently under development) are proven to reduce under-bonnet

temperatures by up to 40 percent. And that can mean only one thing – cooler

intake temps for more power! Designed to keep the heat in the hot side of

the turbo where it belongs, one of these can also reduce lag, chatter and (in

some applications) even increase boost. Put simply - if you actually have a

turbo, it’s a no brainer.
