Overview
The HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W User Gamma
application software adds the following function(s) to a
Sony HD color camera when installed in the camera.
HZC-UG444-compatible models
HDC1000, HDC1400, HDC1450, HDC1500, HDC1550,
HDC1580, HDC1000R, HDC1400R, HDC1450R,
HDC1500R, HDC1550R, HDC1580R, HDC2400,
HDC1700, HDC2570, HDC2550
HZC-UG444M/UG444W-compatible models
HDC2400, HDC2570, HDC2550, HDC1700
The HZC-UG444M is a version limited to use for 30
days.
The HZC-UG444W is a version limited to use for seven
days.
The period of use starts counting from the day after
installation, and can be checked on the <OPTION KEY>
page.

The HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W enables a camera
to load gamma curves created using CvpFileEditor
available on eCSite, the site for downloading business and
professional software from Sony Corporation.
While the HDC1000/1000R/2000-series cameras
incorporate Standard ITU-709 Gamma as well as Sony’s
original Hyper Gamma

for image creation in a wide
dynamic range, CvpFileEditor application software for
personal computers is provided to permit users to create
desired gamma tables for more detailed contrast
characteristics using a personal computer.
HDC-series cameras in which HZC-UG444/UG444M/
UG444W has been installed can import the customized
gamma curves via a USB flash drive or a “Memory Stick”
to achieve image reproduction with unique gamma
curves.

RGB 4:4:4 output function (HDC2400/
1700/2570/2550/1000/1500/1000R/1500R
only)
In the image creation field, including digital cinema
where image composition is in heavy demand, the RGB
4:4:4 system, with broadband chromaticity signals, is
employed as a creation system.
Installing HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W enables
direct output of RGB 4:4:4 signals from the camera head.
The RGB 4:4:4 signals are fed out from the SDI 1/SDI 2
connectors of the camera as Dual Link HD SDI signals
that conform to SMPTE372M.
When using HZC-UG444, check that the software of the
camera to be used in combination is:
HDC1000/1400/1450/1500/1550/1580:
Version 1.24 and later
HDC1000R/1400R/1450R/1500R/1550R/1580R:
Version 2.02 and later
HDC1700: Version 2.00 and later
When using HZC-UG444M/UG444W, check that the
software of the camera to be used in combination is:
HDC2400/2570/2550/1700: Version 2.00 and later

Create a key file.
Create a text file that contains the software
installation key, and rename the file as shown in the
following table (the name of the key file varies with
the type of camera used).
Key file format
• You can describe multiple installation keys in a
single key file (hdc2000.key or hdc1000.key).
Invalid keys are ignored in the installation process.
• Enter only one installation key per line.
• Any description between “#” or “;” and the line
break is a comment.
Example key file
Entering multiple keys to specify the period of use
installs all the keys at the same time, and the period of
use registered is the consecutive period of all keys.

Copy the key file.
Create a \MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\HDC2000 (or
\HDC1000) folder on a USB flash drive or “Memory
Stick” and copy “hdc2000.key” (or “hdc1000.key”)
to that folder.

Install the key file.
On an HDC2400/1700/2570/2550
Connect the USB flash drive to the USB port on the
camera and read the key file into the camera using the
<OPTION KEY> page of the MAINTENANCE
menu.
On other HDC-series cameras
Insert the “Memory Stick” into the Memory Stick slot
of the camera and read the file into the camera using
the <OPTION KEY> page of the MAINTENANCE
menu.
For details on menu operations, refer to the
Operation Manual for the camera.

For HZC-UG444M/UG444W
For HZC-UG444M/UG444W, the same key cannot
be reinstalled once it has been installed. Nor can it be
uninstalled once it has been installed.
