The’HC4538and’HCT4538aredual
retriggerable/resettablemonostableprecisionmultivibrators
forfixedvoltagetimingapplications.Anexternalresistor
(RX )andanexternalcapacitor(CX )controlthetimingand
theaccuracyforthecircuit.AdjustmentofRXandCX
providesa wide range of output pulsewidths from theQ and
Qterminals.Thepropagationdelayfromtriggerinput-to-
output transitionandthe propagationdelay fromresetinput-
to-output transition are independent of R
X and CX.
Leading-edgetriggering(A)andtrailingedgetriggering(B)
inputsareprovidedfortriggeringfromeitheredgeofthe
inputpulse. Anunused“A”inputshouldbetiedtoGNDand
anunused BshouldbetiedtoVCC .OnpoweruptheICis
reset.Unusedresetsandsectionsmustbeterminated.In
normaloperationthecircuitretriggersontheapplicationof
eachnewtriggerpulse.Tooperateinthenon-triggerable
mode QisconnectedtoBwhenleadingedgetriggering(A)
isusedorQisconnectedtoAwhentrailingedgetriggering
( B)isused.Theperiod()canbecalculatedfrom=(0.7)τ τ
