INTRODUCTION
Athermostatisadevicethatisusedtoswitchtheheating
systeminyourhomeonandoffasneeded.Itworksbysensing
theairtemperatureandswitchingontheheatingwhentheair
temperaturefallsbelowthethermostatsetting,andswitching
itoffoncethesettemperaturehasbeenreached.
TheERT30RTfromSalusControlsisastylishandaccuratedigital
roomthermostatthatisfittedwithalargeeasytoreadLiquid
CrystalDisplay(LCD).TheERT30RThasbeenspecifically
designedtobeusedwithunderfloorheatingsystems.
Abacklightandfrostfunctionaddtothefeaturesofthe
ERT30RT.

Installation
Pleasereadtheimportantsafetyinformationatthestartofthis
manualbeforeyoubegintoinstallthedevice.Theidealposition
tolocatetheERT30RTdigitalroomthermostatisabout1.5m
abovefloorlevel.Itshouldbemountedinalocationwherethe
thermostatiseasilyaccessible,reasonablylitandfreefrom
extremesoftemperature.Loosenthescrewwhichislocatedon
thebottomofthehousing.Openthehousingbypullingthe
bottomofthecoverthenliftoff.Nowmountthebaseplate
withthesuppliedscrewsfirmlytothewallorontotheflush-
mountedwallbox.
ERT30RTnotonlyworksbyitself,i.e.dipswitchsetting,but
a
lsocanbecontrolledbytwocontrolmethods,i.e.Night
Setbackbyclock,andCommunciationSignalfromERT52via
c
ommunicationterminal.

operateinNormalmode(controlleroutputOFF),anddisplay
thecurrentroomtemperature.
Allthecontrollersettingswillbereturnedtothevaluesstored
inEEPROM.IftheResetButtonispressed,theERT30RTwill
behaveinthesamewayasdescribedabove,exceptthatany

onandoff;thisblinkingeffectalsohappensifthethermostat

Temperaturesexceedingthemeasurablerangewillbeindicated

ValveProtectionFunction
TheValveProtection(VP)functionisprovidedasawaytoavoid
thecontrolvalvefromstickingorseizingwhennotbeingused
forlongperiods(e.g.duringthesummer).
ThisfunctionisenabledbysettingtheValveProtectionDIP
switchtotheenableposition.Whenenabled,theVPfunction
willturnonthethermostatoutputtooperatethecontrolvalve
foraperiodof5minuteseveryweek:theVPfunctionwillstill
operateeveniftheroomtemperatureishigherthan35°C,orif
thesensorsarefaultyoroutsideofthehighorlowlimits.
ENERGYTIP
Onewaytosetanduseyourroomthermostatistofindthe
lowesttemperaturesettingthatyouarecomfortablewith,and
thenleaveitsetatthistemperature.Youcandothisbysetting
theroomthermostattoalowtemperature,(forexample17°C)
andthenincreasingthesettingbyonedegreeeachdayuntil
youarecomfortablewiththeroomtemperature-youwon’t
havetoadjustthethermostatfurther,asadjustmentabovethis
settingwillwasteenergy:a1°Cincreaseintemperatureisequal
to3%ofyourheatingcosts.
Maintenance
TheERT30RTdigitalroomthermostatrequiresnospecial
maintenance.Periodically,theoutercasingcanbewipedclean
usingadrycloth(pleaseDONOTusesolvents,polishes,
detergentsorabrasivecleaners,asthesecandamagethe
thermostat).
Therearenouserserviceablepartswithintheunit;anyservicing
orrepairsshouldonlybecarriedoutbySalusControlsortheir
appointedagents.
